Sooner or later, you’ll want to get hazardous waste off the school premises
altogether. Transporting it off-site for treatment and disposal requires certain
documents. These are called manifests (documentation for hazardous waste shipments)
and land ban certifications (instructions that ban certain wastes from land disposal
without additional treatment).
In addition, depending on the waste that’s being shipped, it may be up
to you to indicate whether the waste can be disposed of in a landfill “as
is,” or whether it may need additional treatment first.
If you generate hazardous waste and ship it off-site, proceed with this section
of the EVC tour to learn about documentation requirements, specifically related
to manifests and Land Ban Certifications.
