RCRA - STORAGE/DISPOSAL > Overview

The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requires that generators of hazardous waste have adequate measures and contingency plans in place for responding to emergencies. This section of the EVC describes RCRA’s emergency response and contingency planning requirements. Specific requirements may vary according to the generator’s classification (e.g., small or large quantity generator). For example, a large quantity generator is required to maintain a written plan for its response and contingency planning measures.

In addition, the individual states may have more strict requirements, which your campus hazardous waste storage facility should review to ensure it is familiar with all potentially applicable requirements.
If you operate a campus hazardous waste storage facility, then continue on with this EVC and learn more about RCRA’s requirements for emergency response and contingency planning and the associated records your hazardous waste storage facility will need to maintain.
