   Laboratory Waste

Environmental issues often go hand in hand with health and safety issues. So when you help to protect the environment, you’re also protecting people from chemical exposures and other dangerous situations.

This section of the EVC considers hazardous waste issues, such as discarded chemicals and waste within a medical laboratory. Issues related to regulated medical waste can be found under the EVC Medical Area section entitled “Sharps.” Even if your college or university has an EH&S staff, you should be interested in lab waste issues.

Continue on through this section of the EVC to learn more about environmental laws, regulations and best practices associated with the types of lab wastes that are not regulated as medical waste. You might also find the EVC facility entitled “Laboratories” helpful to gather this information.
