Look around your laboratory and you’re likely to see many sinks and drains.
In most cases, sinks and drains are connected to an on site treatment system
or a public treatment plant. To prevent dangerous chemical reactions (ex. generation
of toxic gases), damage to the plumbing system, or interference with the operation
of the treatment plant or system, discharges to a sink or drain must be strictly
controlled.
