Mission Statement

The mission of the Campus Consortium for Environmental Excellence (C2E2) is to support the continued improvement of environmental performance in higher education through environmental professional networking, information exchange, the development of professional resources and tools, and the advancement of innovative regulatory models. Environmental performance includes campus regulatory compliance, environmental management, and sustainability initiatives.

Our mission is carried out through bi-monthly meetings, active workgroups, and projects identified by the consortium's membership.

Membership in the Campus Consortium for Environmental Excellence is open to all colleges and
universities in the United States.

Meeting Schedule

All meetings, unless otherwise noted, are held at the offices of Nexus Environmental Partners at One Financial Center in Boston, MA.

The building is conveniently located across the street from South Station (the T, commuter train lines, and Amtrack) and the Bus Depot. Logan Airport is a 10 minute drive. Several parking lots exist in the area, call the office for exact locations.

Due to security, you will need to present an ID and state your destination (Nexus/Rackemann Sawyer) and who you are visiting (Tom Balf) to security on the first floor. Proceed to the 29th floor.

Meeting Times are 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM to include lunch.

Awards and Accomplishments

The Environmental Health and Safety programs at the University of Vermont, the University of Massachusetts-Boston and Boston College received a national award at the International Campus Safety Health and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) Conference held July 15, 2003, in Nashville, Tenn. for their participation in Project XL. The award recognizes innovative environmental protection practices in higher education

On June 12, 2002, the Campus Consortium for Environmental Excellence was presented with the Environmental Business Council of New England (EBC) award entitled "The Environmental Merit Award for Leadership by a Non-Profit Organization." Ralph Stuart, President of the C2E2, accepted the award on behalf of all the members.

Project XL Signing Ceremony
On September 28, 1999 at Boston College, Burns Library, a ceremony to sign the final project agreement for the Project XL Site Specific Rulemaking for University Laboratories was held. In attendance were EPA Headquarters, EPA Region I, MADEP, VTDEC, and representatives from Boston College, University of Mass - Boston, and the University of Vermont.
